Greece in southeastern Europe is made up of thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. It is often called the cradle of Western civilization and was incredibly influential in ancient times. The capital Athens is a city of wonder and ancient history with landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel and the Parthenon temple.
