Letoon Ancient City

Letoon is an ancient religious centre that can be found just south of the village Kumluova in Fethiye. The foundations of three temples are clearly visible, with many rising from water-filled with plant life, turtles and frogs. Letoon is a romantic destination with stunning mountain views.

The settlement of Letoon was a sanctuary near the ancient city of Xanthos. Archaeologists have found the settlement was never fully occupied, however, is shown as being a religious centre dating back to the late sixth century BCE. It was abandoned in the seventh century CE but was classed as a sanctified site allowing it to survive until modern times to be studied.
